Description
Masters Membership is an annual club membership available to persons holding a lifesaving qualification over the age of 30. Masters can enjoy all the amenities of the club and participate in courses, training and competitions representing Clifton Surf Lifesaving Club.
Masters need to have a lifesaving qualification: a Bronze Medallion (BM), a Surf Proficiency Award (SPA) or a Surf Lifeguard Award (SLA or LA). The Bronze Medallion is still awarded in countries overseas and recognised as the minimum requirement to be a Lifeguard. Masters wishing to compete in the annual competitions do not require Duty Hours or a Retest. If they wish to do Duty, an Annual Retest is still required.
Duty Requirements and Information:
Masters who hold a lifesaving award are not required to do duty but may do so as long as their qualification is validated with an Annual Retest.
Competitions:
Lifeguard Inter-Club Surf and Stillwater Competitions are held during the season. These competitions are hosted at various beaches and pools across Cape Town on a Saturday. These are for Junior and Senior Lifeguards and Masters are welcome to compete in the Senior division. Venues and dates for the season TBC.
Note ONLY qualified Lifeguards may compete.
Western Cape Provincial and SA Nationals Champs are held at the end of the season. LWC Provincial Champs are held over 2 days at the hosting club and SA National Champs is held by the hosting province over a week. Nationals includes Surf and Stillwater. Masters are welcome to compete in the Senior division at provincial champs. Masters have their own division at Nationals and are also welcome to compete in the Senior division too.
